SLACDEC
South Los Angeles Community Development & Empowerment Corporation (SLACDEC)
The “South Los Angeles Community Development & Empowerment Corporation” (SLACDEC) has been established by First AME Church as Community Based Organization (CBO) to affect a significant and sustainable improvement in the quality of life within a 32 square mile portion of South Los Angeles. Having surveyed the financial, academic, health, employment, housing, and safety statistics of that community several disparities indicate a significant decline in the quality of life for South Los Angeles’ residents. SLACDEC will be the lead agency in the proposed economic development of South Los Angeles. As an advocate for viable and sustainable economic development SLACDEC will seek to provide a holistic delivery of services and community engagement which are directed to improve the quality of life for that area through intervention in the following areas:
- Affordable Housing
- Medical and Health Services
- Neighborhood Financial Literacy
- Food and Nutrition Improvement
- Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Reform
- Services to Senior Populations
- Services to Veterans
- Services to Incarcerated and Probationers
- Business Development & Entrepreneurial Training
- Education and Vocational Training
- Job Readiness and Placement Efforts
- Public Safety and Security Improvements
Our goal is to reach outside of the church’s walls, by initiating numerous community building efforts through collaborative relationships that help build our local economy and empower neighboring residents.
